everStor Adds Key Linux Feature to Replicator Software
"One-To-Many" Feature Provides Multiple Mirrored Data Storage in Heterogeneous Networks
Anaheim, CA - January 8, 2002 - everStor Software Corporation has added a "One-to-Many" Linux feature to its Replicator storage management software. The new feature allows a system administrator to mirror data to multiple local and remote storage locations on their enterprise. Replicator was originally designed to pull data, locally and remotely, from multiple heterogeneous computers for centralized data replication and archiving. Now, it can push data from a single computer to multiple Windows-based and Unix-based computers. This gives system administrators the ability to provide as many layers of protection as they want.
"If a system administrator wants to push data from a Unix-based server to another Unix-based computer, it's a pretty straight forward operation using the NFS protocol," stated Jon Burgoyne, everStor vice president of engineering and development. "It is far more difficult to push data out from a Unix-based machine to multiple machines on a heterogeneous network. Replicator is designed to provide flexible data transfer in this type of environment."
"System administrators often prefer to have their company's data protected by copying it to multiple locations," said Dr. Glenn Salley, chairman and CEO for everStor. "The benefit of using Replicator for Linux is that you can create as many mirrored copies of your data as you want, regardless of the platform types you are pushing the data to."
