Press Release
everStor Introduces Replicator -- Enterprise-Level Management, Replicating and Archiving Software
EASILY INTEGRATES WITH EXISTING SOFTWARE PLATFORMS AND PROVIDES ON-LINE DATA AVAILABILITY - PERFECT COMPONENT FOR DISASTER RECOVERY PROGRAMS
Anaheim, CA - June 6, 2001 - everStor, Inc. (www.everstor.com), a developer and publisher of enterprise-class storage-management software, introduced Replicator, its new management, replication and archival software today. Replicator centralizes control and management functions for replicating specific disks, directories or files from any server or workstation within an enterprise over a LAN, WAN or the Internet. The software integrates easily with existing software platforms and provides on-line data availability. It can be a critical component of a company's disaster recovery program.
Replicator resides on a Linux or Solaris-based server or network appliance and requires no installation of client-side software. Users access their replicated or lost data from their desktops utilizing a Web browser -- standard pre-installed software. Since users access replicated, lost or archived data files via Internet Explorer or Netscape, there are no operating system platform conflicts, no time-consuming workstation installations, and no updates to client-installed software to worry about.
"It operates by taking point-in-time data snapshots at a frequency defined by the system or workgroup administrator based on the type of data being archived. The administrator can choose to replicate only dynamic, critical data files - excluding system and program files - thereby freeing up valuable storage capacity and network bandwidth," stated Rich Silva, senior vice president of everStor. "Additionally, Replicator runs transparently to desktop users. Its user-friendly, Web-based graphical interface allows users to easily retrieve their data without IT assistance. Replicator is a self-managing "lights-out" data replicating solution easily integrated into an existing network environment."
Replicator is a highly scalable storage solution that can be tiered to replicate data from departmental servers as well as workstations. It is available for Linux and Solaris (Sparc and Intel) platforms. Supported clients include: Win95/98/98ME/NT/2000, AIX, HP-UX, Linux, & Solaris. File transfer takes place over a TCP/IP connection. A five-client user license for a Linux installation begins at $2,475.00. An aggressive pricing structure is available for resellers.
